Trader Joe's taco seasoning has only spices and no hidden starches or sugars. Yummy, too!

Frontera! The best!!! I make meatballs in my crock pot with that sauce. It is a staple. I also pour a packet on chicken thighs in the crock pot. Chef Rick Bayless is da bomb!

That's a great snack idea. I cook it up with seasoning and onions to add in to stuff. I didn't think about it for snacks.

Oh....you've given me a good idea. I'm always snooping on what people are eating around me. Coworkers cant sneak anything by me. I peer in other people's grocery baskets. All I'm looking for is ideas. You gave me a good one. Thanks.

Great idea, but watch out for hidden carbs in the seasoning mixes.

Better yet, make your own without the fillers and thickeners in it. GOOGLE diy taco seasoning or Italian seasoning (whatever) mix it up, put it in a baggie or old spice jar. Write the content and amounts on a label and bingo, you are good to go. No salt, no carbs. Easy, small changes in the way you do things that add up over time. Not all convenience foods are worth it

I read all the labels and the minuscule amount of carbs spread across 1 lb of ground beef makes them negligible. I don’t use processed anything much anymore, but I had these and thought I would try my idea out. Being a chef graduate of the International Culinary Center, formerly The French Culinary Institute, NYC, I have some wonderful spice blends in my pantry.

@Avis713 I LOVE Rick Bayless! Check him out in this great documentary on Netflix or Amazon Video called “Sustainable” about Chicago chefs and their relationships with local farmers, etc. A wonderful story of FARM TO TABLE!

That is awesome to be a chef. I like to cook but I have often thought about how hard that must be with all the tasting and retasting of your creations. I have never really been back east— Virginia primarily outside of DC. Do t know if I could do winters, but the fall must be spectacular.

Culinary school was one of the best experiences of my life. SO much fun. The fact that it was in NYC was a bonus. After class, I would go to Union Square Greenmarket, Balthazar Bakery and Dean & DeLuca Food, bringing home BAGS of produce and breads, etc...it was wonderful! Living on the East Coast is BLISS! The changing of the seasons gives you a real sense of the passing of time. The turning of the leaves in October, snow in December, the first warm spring day and now the hint of summer around the corner...plus, we’re just an hour from NYC and Philadelphia, 4 hours from Boston and Washington DC. The Northeast is great.

Snow for Christmas is so beautiful. We don’t have changing of the seasons here. Most of us don’t even own a “real coat”. I am a big beach person so I have a summer and winter bathing suit. LOL. I figure when the temp gets below my age (70] it’s time to bring out my sweaters, flannel shirts and UGG boots.
