They're not dangerous, especially when they're alone like that. You're good. :)

That's a great pic! Sad to hear they're attacking small pets though. :(

Lived in areas with coyotes my entire life. You are not his prey. In fact, in our current home they hangout on the golf course. No worries.

They shouldn't bother you. They want small easy prey. Leave them alone and they will typically leave you alone. If you mess with them or their babies, that's when they will get aggressive. Just let them do their thing and they are cool.

If you're worried, just carry a storm whistle when you walk. 150dB and they will leave you alone.

Agree with Erquiaga, TheMartinsNest, Katsolo and Nattie720. I lived very rural most of my life and never had one or a pack bother me or my livestock. If you are alone when you hike, maybe let someone know when and where you're going!

An air horn is a great item to carry while hiking. They aren’t to expensive and No animal wants to hear that blast a second time!

Dearly beloved government hauled them into our area, supposedly to thin out the deer population. They don’t catch deer. So now we just have another pest, that likes to eat pets and smaller livestock. They eat enough for their population to have grown rapidly.
