I bought an instant pot a year ago, but have been too intimidated (and lazy) to learn to use it. My roommate and i tried it out for the first time on thanksgiving, but i was a little too "celebratory" to pay sufficient attention. Used it last week to make minnestrone. It came out good, but still nervous to try meat. Do you use yours a lot? What are your favorite things to make?

Jen, it can be intimidating, am afraid of blowing up my house haha! I got as a wedding gift in November, and have used it a handful of times. The best thing I have made so far are ribs. 23 minutes and you got delicious tender ribs!! I make a little rub with salt and monkfruit granules, plus whatever other spices you want, and rub it about an hour before. Then plop them in the pot with a cup of water, 23 on manual. done :D

Thank you for understanding!! Oh my! I have never made ribs (any way). Roommate would like that! i definitely eat meat, but for years my cooking has focused on vegetarian or pre-cooked meats bc of expense and calories, so i don't know how to cook / don't have experience cooking many meats. Congratulations on your marriage.

Thanks Jen!! ... I do want to try more things like soups and chilis, maybe a tomato sauce. I am doing keto, so to be able to change it up a bit with the meat helps a lot. Plus if you are short on time, the pressure cooking really helps. I do google recipes a lot, so I am no expert either haha.

My mom and sister got one and they have been hounding me to do it ever since! They also loved the "so tender it falls off the bone" ribs lol.

I threw some stew meat chunks in it for 25 minutes. Yumm. Tender roast beef. I ate mine plain, but added BBQ sauce for husband's portion. I've also cooked chicken, ribs, pork shoulder and a small roast beef--not all at the same time, of course. Everything comes out tender, juicy, and falls off the bone. I love it because it doesn't take so long to get the meat to tender and done.
