Buffy, you are doing great!! Halfway is amazing, and since you have come back you are back on your downward trend.

Wholefood - Thank you. Now please tell me more about the mall - were you actually there when there was a shooting?

It was before the more recent ones. I worked near there, had hour lunchtime. Went over Christmas shopping, there was suddenly lots f commotion and a cop telling me and several others to get in a jewelry store and duck behind the counters. The clerk protested, till we started hearing the gun shots. Some crazy man was shooting randomly right outside the store, we were watching thru the glass cases.
We had a similar thing happen in the Walmart store across from there close to the same time. I managed the portrait studio at the time, luckily no kids in there at the time. They caught the guy in front of my studio.
The mall near me now is terribly noisy I don't think I've been there in maybe 4 years, would rather go to the gym. 😉

Wholefoodnut - No wonder you don't like malls!

Also I'm not much of a shopper. Prefer thrift shops and outlets. They are like an adventure. One stop shopping, if I find something ok if not that's ok too. Now food, fabric, plants, and home depot that's a different story! I also like 1/2 price book clearance racks. Actually I need to plan some time to roam around the nature's pantry ( natural food store)near me. They have expanded it and my neighbor says they have a lot more food, and decent veggies. They used to have more vitamins and cosmetics than food and awful veggies with high prices.

I try to use that same philosophy. What I have lost and not what I still want to lose. I do think we can be too hard on ourselves. I can't remember when I weighed 164. I do know I weighed more when preggers with my son. So, it is a happy number in a lot of ways.

Classic - Can't be too hard on ourselves but can't be too lenient either. Where is that balance? Maybe some day we'll find it.

An excellent observation and a motivating thought to get you back on track.

Buffy, I'm also trying to find that balance. It's rather a struggle, at least for me.

Wholefoodnut - If it were easy we'd all be skinny - LOL

LOL, I've gotten skinnier but still dang flabby. Elephant knees , those granny wings still flapping, and wiggly jelly around my waist. Need to get off this computer and hit the gym. So excited I can plan gym days this week, with no one riding with me anymore. Means I can get to the gym by 4:00 and still get home for dinner at a decent time. Hoping that will help with some balance in my life. Have to keep up the exercise to keep the pain away.

That's awesome my friend, and a great way to look at it! It's so easy to forget how far we've come & how much we've accomplished -- great idea to remind yourself! xoxox

Keep your eyes on the goal! You have some minor set backs, but you are still better than what you were... keep going!

WTG on your weight loss..

Wholefoodnut - I like your plan. I remember from past journals that your rider had different habits than you anyway. Carpooling can be so overrated!

Ruth - So right - I was viewing them as major setbacks when in reality they were only minor set backs in the "big picture".

Hoosier - I just checked your stats - very impressive!

that's great! i know it's hard to stay motivated, but look at how far you've come! you've come too far, no choice but to keep working hard till you get to your destination!

I'm so glad that you did revisit that "big picture." There is no point in kicking ourselves and beating ourselves up, especially when that tends to put us in a bad place, more likely to make poor choices. If it weren't for the lost momentum, I personally feel that any significant amount of weight I can lose and keep off is a permanent change that I can add to at any point along the line. Keep up the awesome attitude.
