dragonwisdom's Notizen, 12 Dez 14

Biked 90 minutes at a good pace along the river. It was amazing, but also sad to see the F16 flying. There were 3 of them together wing tip to wing tip. After the bike I went shopping in Machida and bought lots of veggies and one of my fav foods avocado. I checked out the bakery as the scents summoned me and unlike in the past I stayed away from the loaf of freshly baked raisin, cranberry and walnut bread. It is my fav but loaded with white flour, sugar and tons of carbs/calories. I also visited my friends in the chocolate and ice cream sections. Luckily the choice in Tokyo are not as vast as in my hometown, but still very, very tempting. Last month I was eating a large raisin, whole almond bar almost everyday and thought my exercise would keep off the weight. The bar was about 1,000 calories. For some unknown reason, well, I guess I knew the reason but did not admit it which was I needed the sugar to deal with the stress in my life. In May of this year, I finally got down to about from 198 lbs to 167 lbs and it took a great deal of motivation and discipline. It was shocking to see how quickly I could messed up all this hard work by indulging in my vice the evil demon called sugar. In a few month or so I found myself quickly going on the upward roller coaster ride (it seems to go much quicker upwards than downwards in the dieting world) from a low of 166 lbs to 175 lbs and finally about 2 weeks ago to almost 185 lbs. I could see that if I did not put the breaks on I was heading back to my old self which was a place I did not want to revisit. I decided to get my eating back on track and read that doing a food diary really helped with keeping the pounds off as it added an element of accountability. Well, since starting the food diary I have really seen a change in my outlook and have a renewed outlook about my life. I am back on track with a renewed passion to getting healthy. In the past two weeks I have gone from 185 lbs to today's weight of 177.7. I love the number "7" so it make the weigh-in even more sweet. One thing I had to really think about is my sweet craving which I still have. I wanted to satisfy it in a health way and not with all of those low calorie junk treats with tons of additives. I love my milk and white chocolate, but today I decided to buy 70% cocoa bar. Tonight to satisfy my sweet tooth I am going to have dessert which will consist of 8 sauteed strawberries, 2 mini sauteed bananas in a small amount of butter, and 3 squares of melted 70% cocoa with a drizzle of 100% real maple syrup. I know that I have a gigantic sweet tooth, but if I make the right health choices I can satisfy it. I think if I deny the fact about my sugar addiction I am doomed to fail, but if I tackle it in a wit a new and healthy approach perhaps I can slowly recondition my taste buds to this healthier way. Yeah, I am officially a out of the closet "sweet addict".
