It is very hard, but once you break the cycle then you could stick to your routine like for a month straight and then sometimes you take a break for a week and start again until it becomes a habit and then what happens is, your body remembers how hard it is to restart so you just keep doing it none stop. The maximum lenght of time I managed to stick to a routine has been 4 months, then I have a 2 weeks break and start all over again, the good news is that you develop muscle memory so is not like starting from scratch.
