Yesterday my friend sent me a 150 gram bag of deluxe organic mixed nuts with dark cocoa. I am not good at portioning these things out as the bag instructions suggest. Instead I sat there and enjoyed the entire bag. It was not a hug bag, but the calories alone was about 700-800. I still have the second bag which I may eat as a meal one day next week. For me when it comes to nuts and sweets it is still all or nothing and I tend not to buy these things anymore as I know what will happen. Later that day I met my buddy who had arrived from Brazil and he brought me some kind of chocolate covered cookie crunch with peanut butter inside. When I got home it was just before midnight and I could not resist the entire bag with a nice hot glass of milk. I calculate the calories just now and it was around 1300. Just a bag of nuts and 11 chocolates were about 2000+ calories. I have been eating very healthy and sticking to 1500-2000 calories per day and it shows me how easily it is to over eat on a few items. Overall, I am doing very well and the weight is SLOWLY coming off, but it is slow and I know how FAST and EASY it is to put the pounds back on. So, it is back on the wagon to resisting these goodies and hopefully no more yummy presents from friends as I only have 70%+ cocao bars at my place which I eat in moderation, but the other sweet sensation I devour and it is definitely not in moderation.

I am a little worried about getting on the scale but I will do so later this evening as I am going with my buddy from Brazil to the local hot spring. We will also have an Indian lunch and at the hot spring I will have a simple bowl of soba/buckwheat noodles in miso soup with tofu. I think my weight will be OK as I have not really gone hog wild on junk this season, but I do know how easy it is to put on the pounds so quickly and how challenging it is to take them off.

Anyway it is that time of year with so many temptations and I hope even if you do indulge that you will get back on track quickly and it will not be such a traumatic blow to your success. Each day is a new one and today I am not going to worry about my little binge yesterday and will look at starting anew today and not beat myself up mentally for my over indulgences yesterday.
