Because I didn't do my usual walking yesterday, I took the doggies out walking early this AM, before church. The timing was a bit tight, but dogs got 2.3 miles in and I got the complete 3.3 miles.

I'm trying another nut/seed butter. This one is Sunbutter Natural Sunflower Seed Spread; 200 cal/2 tablespoons and 3 NC. Love this one too - DARN! The consistency of this spread, however, is more like a thick gravy. Maybe it will firm up in the 'frig.

So far, all these nut butters are just TOO good! The Atkins book mentions "fat hunger" in some of the latter stages of the program; certainly not in OWL, though, as the fat level is still pretty high. Nonetheless, I'm wondering if I could have a bit of that, anyway, because these butters are just awesome and I could eat the entire container; NOT a good thing. I wouldn't think I'd have "fat hunger," as I'm usually quite high in fat on a daily basis.

Well, just another food I'll have to be very careful around.

Paula, they really give me a sense of "summertime enjoyment," in lieu of ice cream. Funny, though, I bought them MONTHS ago and they've been sitting in the freezer waiting for the day I would decide to chance the additional carb/SA load. They're a bit freezer-burned now, but still good. With the additional Sunbutter I ate today, I may have to end up forgoing them for tonight; we'll see. Enjoy the rest of the holiday.

Hi Sandy, you are such a trooper with your walking. I love the fact you go no matter what. Where do you find all your nut butters at??? I have looked at the grocery stores here and they don't have any except the one with milk in it and I can't have any dairy.. Have a great evening.....Bren

Bren, if you can't find an abundance of nut butters, check out a small health store if you have one in your area. If not, you can easily make your own in a food processor, just add nuts and grind away, that is really all good nut butters are....pure nuts. Just make sure there are no skins on them.

Thanks Babs, I'll try to do both..Bren

Sandy great job with the walking, especially before church. I just got back from a 3 miler myself. Hot and muggy, but at least the sun was behind the trees and we were in the shade for the most part. Hope you enjoy your evening and have a great Memorial Day!

I'm sure making up your own nut butter would turn out better nutritionally. The sunflower seed butter I just tried comes in at 3g sugar, I think. One of the ingredients is dehydrated cane syrup which I take to mean "intense, thickened, dried sugar." Health food stores should have the butters and probably better ones at that. I found the almond butter at a small, locally-owned grocery store that carries an unusual mix of things. The Sunbutter was found at a military commissary.

Bren, none of the ingredients in Sunbutter are dairy. I'm the one who put the info in the database and I listed the ingredients as well. The Blue Diamond crunchy almond butter (190 cal/2 tblsp., 3 NC, 2g. sugar) lists ingredients as almonds, palm oil, evaporated cane juice, and sea salt.

Stef, wow, you're really making up for the lost walking time over the winter!! Must be fun using the FitBit to see how it measures up each thing you do. Enjoy the rest of the holiday.

BuffyBear, who knows what other kinds of butters are out there? It's kind of fun sampling them! Did the kiddie/doggy swap happen today - LOL??

Sandy, that fitbit is an awesome tool!!! I am making headway, and the weight is starting to come off again. Not sure why, but I will take it! Enjoy the rest of your holiday also.
