So yesterday teetered on the border of out of control. What started out a completely normal day when the only challenge was being careful when going out to dinner with friends turned into a complete disaster. A client of mine had a full-on emergency, and I was up writing until 2am -- and it is really really hard to write half the night without a pint of Ben & Jerry's or the bag of chili M&Ms that is sitting in my pantry. But somehow I managed to do it on a 90-calorie bag of Nut-Thins and a custard cup of roasted nuts. I know it probably added about 500 calories to my day, but only a reasonable amount of carbs, and since I was burning the midnight oil, I think maybe I got away with it.

Today I was awake again at 6:45 to get the dogs walked and fed and the house straightened before the cleaning ladies came at 8am. By that time I'd also managed to get a load of laundry in. By 9 I'd finished a conference call with a new client and by the time I left for ice skating at 2:15, I'd put in another 5 hours of writing. I went to ice skating, then I stopped at WFs for salmon for dinner, picked up Carson at home and took him to a one-hour "front" class -- and attempt to get him to come when called. It's a long story.

The point of all this blather is that I realized three things in the process: 1) I am actually capable of finding munchies during a writing binge that do not constitute a carb binge; 2) I am no longer able to do all-nighters; 3) on the other hand, my FS friends -- there is no way I would have had the energy to put in the kind of 24 hours I've just completed 75 pounds ago. I really truly do have more energy that I had 10 years ago, even though I'm now on my way to being positively elderly. So everyone out there who has been cheering me on, thank you. And if you are where I was when I started this journey 5 years ago, you WILL feel better, stronger, more energetic when you take off the pounds. I can't wait to hear about your successes!
