**TL;DR: Lunch was good, we're going to continue to see each other and see where it goes**
For those of you following the saga of the ex...lunch was fine. I stuck to my plan, and had gyros meat with veggies, no bread. It was ok, but not great. The conversation, on the other hand, was very good. All my questions were answered, and both of us were honest and open about things. It was the scenario I had imagined. We had never made or assumed any promise of exclusivity, and he had, indeed, been seeing the other lady at the same time, towards the end. The reason he dumped me was because she told him that if he wanted to continue seeing her, it had to be exclusive, while I had been completely unconditional. By that I mean, I told him that I had no expectations, and never would, and that I didn't (don't) need him to behave in a certain way for me to be happy. My happiness is, was, and always will be up to me. HA! Too much freedom! I've also mentioned that we were very comfortable with each other, right from the get-go. We're very similar in SO many ways, that even after just a couple of weeks of dating, people assumed we'd been married for many years. We never fought about anything, and rarely disagreed, except on minor details. Well, apparently, that made him uncomfortable, too. LOL!He always believed that it should be opposites that attract, and we are nothing like opposites. He said that he thought it might be dangerous to pursue because we have some of the same bad habits, and he thought we might reinforce them in each other. (We both like to shop thrift stores, and could easily become hoarders. LOL) So, after a year and a bit of living with someone who apparently WAS his opposite, and feeling disrespected at every turn because she didn't 'get' him, he's decided it might not be such a bad thing to be with someone who does. I did tell him that I might have a few trust issues of my own after being summarily dumped, and he said he understood and apologized again. He's not very experienced at the whole dating game, having married his childhood best friend. So, we'll take things slowly again, see where this takes us, and remain friends. ~Kes
