Do you have one yourself and enjoy - really enjoy - the foods you make with it? If you answered no to either question I suggest you don't bother. Or, if practical and you do own an air fryer, have this person over for dinner or snacks and serve some air-fried foods and see how s/he likes them. 

Hmmm, that's a tricky one. The gift might not be used especially if he/she doesn't care about what he/she eats. Why not indirectly find out how he/she feels about air fryers and then go from there. You might be wasting your money. I know you are probably trying indirectly to help this person eat better, but until he/she feels that it's an issue than there is no issue. Know what I mean? You probably would be better off trying to focus on your situation and not this other person's situation.  

I would love to have one, but there are so many out there. I also would like any recommendations.  

I am hoping to hear from someone who already has one. I would like to know is this a satisfactory alternative methods of frying food or is it a miracle machine that produces the exact same results?  

I have one and it isn't exactly like the traditional frying results, so I wouldn't recommend buying one expecting the SAME results because it isn't going to be the same. 

@Pondlady.....I have a Philips Viva Airfryer. Love it!
