Joining the gym is probably the best thing I could have done at this moment in my life. I was starting to become complacent and had been in a plateau for over a year. Not good enough...
It's great that I got this far by working out at home and learning to run all by myself because if it wasn't for that base of self-support and motivation I would never stick to a gym routine.
Before I started getting serious about my health and wellness, I used to join a gym, go for 2 or 3 months, lose a few pounds (not much because I used to counteract my cals burned by eating more), then stop going or stop trying as hard.
Now that I know how good it feels to challenge myself and really push and sweat hard, I carry that drive with me to the gym 4-5 days a week.
I love all the resources I have available to me there! So many different ways to work out my body. I'm sticking with the running (ugh treadmills...), but the weight training is so much more diverse. I was limited at home with my meagre equipment and reluctance to push myself through tough exercise vids. I would often get tired, pause the video and sit on my couch. Sooo tempting! Now when I go to the gym, I have no choice but to work out. I get in my running every time I go, and weight train my body in systems instead of full body exercise vids.
The only thing I fear about weight training at a gym by myself is that I wouldn't push myself to the limit without having someone to encourage me to do those last few reps or to pick up that heavier dumbbell. A personal trainer is just too expensive.
I have friends that go to the gym, so maybe I will start joining them to see how they can challenge me. And who knows... maybe I can challenge them with the strength and cardio endurance I've gained from my experience at home :)

So, I'm joining a gym today... Winter is almost upon us and outdoor running is soon going to be possible no more...
