Trying to maintain a consistent slow weight-gain is as ridiculously mind bending as losing weight. While "the scale doesn't matter" is a pretty common mantra among the strength community, I know myself. If I walked away from the scale for a month it would really throw me for a loop. It's part of the routine. It's part of what I need to do.

Have a great day people.

I'm addicted to the scale to the point where I weigh myself in the morning and then I weigh myself again before I go to bed so i can estimate how much I will lose over night. I've been thinking about just hidding the damn thing in the closet so that I stop getting on it SO much. If I don't lose enough or stay the same it puts me in a down mood... Getting a little unhealthy! I've only gone 4 days without getting on it because I start to freak out that I'm gaining the weight. I guess it is the unknown factor of not knowing how I'm doing with my weight loss. Good luck.

Too many things going on in your body all at once for the scale to ever tell you the "truth"... The scale lies to strength trainers! :)

So true, @NM! I'd be right there too. The scale might not matter to *normal* bodybuilders... but we're a bit of a different case. That scale can never be too far from our thoughts, even in a bulk. You're doing GREAT!

I am right there with you. The scale is not everything or the end all be all but it is clearly a part of our tracking system and now embedded in us.

The tricky thing with a bulk is knowing how much is lean muscle and how much is fat. I went on a bulk, and took it farther than I wanted to.

Some of us (myself included) thrive on routine. Keep up the good work!

Jersey and Kate., I'd love to give it up. I think lover nailed it when she said it's part of the tracking system, which I'll call routine as buffy does. Chad, Rob, and Geezer... I agree with all of you. Being my first 'bulk' and I hope it is a muscle bulk, I'm watching it very closely. Bulk number 2 I'm more likely to do something truly radical, like weight in only twice a week! Thanks everyone.
