Bought a lot of ground grass-fed beef and have been trying to eat it before it spoils, but when I eat it, my lungs get congested, my nose runs, and I feel like I've been drinking milk. I wonder if beef protein is similar enough to milk protein to set off my allergy?

Yup....a friend of mine has to avoid everything that has been produced by a cow: meat, cheese, yoguhrt, milk & anything that contains it. A pain! How are you with soya? I discovered almond milk the other day, not quite the same, but still a good alternative.

It sounds like your body is reacting to the protein. If you're wanting red meat that much, you can search for local farmers of wild game such as buffalo and elk. I know they exist in the northwestern US where I live, plus my husband and I hunt, so I rarely eat beef. In fact, I probably don't eat it on a weekly basis, but my husband does.

+1 with above comments. I sometimes buy buffalo from my supermarket. They keep it in frozen meat sections. I also can get elk at outdoor stores like Gander Mountain.
I'd love to be in position of lineruds, keeping my freezers stocked with hunted meats/fish. I'm hoping to start fishing again soon, bringing my 5 year old boy, and hope to start hunting with him in a couple years. Our fall Gobbler Archery season starts in a week, would Love to bag a bird! All healthy eating!

Hmm... that's interesting. I know I get that way when I drink/eat milk/ice cream/etc. but I've never thought there was a correlatioin between my allergies and the beef. I'll have to pay attention next time.
