I feel like all my energy is spent on this (stupid) diet. I come home from work, do the dishes from the morning, cook dinner, then do the dishes from the evening and (try to) figure out something NEW to have for lunch the next day. It's draining. I used to have so much free time in the evening I didn't know what to do with it. Now I have maybe an hour of free time before its time to get ready for bed. (okay, that's exaggerating a little but that's what it feels like)

I try to keep focusing on the positive. I've lost 10lbs in the last week. I feel better than ever and the clothes I bought a year ago are starting to fit properly again. No more straining buttons on my work shirts. In fact, they feel positively baggy. All of this in a week!

But it's hard to get excited when I look in the refrigerator in the morning and realize I forgot to get anything ready for today's lunch. Now I have to try to get something going quick.

So why am I journaling?

Why are you journaling? Read your second paragraph in your entry again...

Congrats on your early success! Feels great, doesn't it? As for your thoughts for today....well, I just went thru a day like that a couple of days ago. Encouraging words on this site got me thru the doldrums. It DOES get easier to plan meals and have the right things on hand. Early in the program, it seems like your schedule is all thrown off - you need more time to plan and prepare and you need to shop in different parts of the grocery store, maybe even in different stores. All that takes time out of our schedule. But you've now seen some of the rewards and they only get more pronounced as time goes on! You survived the Marine Corps so this should be a piece of low-carb cheesecake!!!! Speaking of cheesecake, for your birthday tomorrow, think about treating yourself with an Induction-friendly recipe from this site for something that appeals to you, rather than going off plan for a treat. You could also allow yourself an Atkins bar...Chocolate Peanut Butter, Caramel Double Chocolate Crunch, and Cinnamon Bun bars are all OK for Induction. Another thought....instead of a food treat, think non-food. On a previous weight loss journey, I would allow myself to read the newest book from my faorite author ONLY IF I dropped to a certain weight. I kept that book out, visible, so it was my constant motivation to stay on track. Good luck and "happy birthday" tomorrow.

I know, I know! It takes sooo much time to take care of myself, too! I get lazy and that's when I fall off the wagon. 10 lbs is awesome! One trick I learned is to make sure I always have some easy basics in pantry/freezer for days when you just can't or just didn't plan your lunch the next day. Those things are just for those emergencies, not the regular days. Good luck! Your doing fantastic!
