1.5 is amazing. Actually, kind of kick up your heels and dance amazing. Focus on your goal now. You're not too far from it. Maintenance can be taught over time. We've got people on this site who will be more then willing to work with you to figure it out. And the flimsy dresses. Wear them. Why not. You are a woman and are entitled to feel and look like one.

Are you tracking everything you eat here?

Yup! 1 and 1/2 pounds is awesome (picture 6 sticks of butter/fat off your body). Just stick with it, keep realistic expectations and keep going.

Yeah, I think Realistic Expectations are the key words here.
Thank you.

Regardless of when you start, where you are, how many times you have stopped and started, your life is in front of you not behind you, keep moving forward! Run not walk to the flimsy dress department and buy them all... kick up those heels girl!

Hang in there!! Getting fit and healthy is not an overnight event. It is a long term commitment. If you are doing additional exercise your muscles may be hanging on to fluid to help their recovery. The benefits will show eventually.

Perhaps it's time to begin documenting all of your food in your diary. It helps a lot. Ask those of us who have lost a lot of weight, and yes, I am one of the overweight women who did it and I know you can too. Do not become discouraged.

I'm right there with you, sister. I figure I have spent too much time reading, watching tv, etc and lost muscle. Now that I am working out I am building muscle while losing fat. Since muscle is heavier than fat, my body is balancing it out and that's why I don't see a big result in the scale. Eventually it will come off. :-)

1% of your body weight per week is typical. Faster usually just means water lost or muscle tissue lost. This is why weight loss slows as you get leaner. It's just a (very painful) fact of the dieting process.

I totally understand what you're saying. I want to feel pretty and wear whatever type of dresses I'd like one day!

NM.... guess we should feel proud that we're getting leaner, but only get meaner because the weight isn't dropping the way we want. But it makes sense. It really does and I hate to admit you're right.

Adding exercise to your life when it's been absent for a while means you're going to gain muscle (which weights more than fat). So at the outset of a fitness program it also means less weight loss. But more muscle burns more calories … so in the long run, more exercise and more muscle is a good thing, even though it may slow your weight loss. As you said, patience and a long term goal.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH ALL! I know I'm letting my inner child pull a tantrum because she's not getting what she wants in the manner she wants it. Patience is not really my forte.
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR KIND WORDS.

Not often I hear someone talk of their "Inner Child". Wishing you the best luck.

Well, you know that saying.. We are all children of God, and some of us are more childish than others. Or have our childish moments. That's were I can believe the saying... (I see it in myself and others, sometimes) . It just use to be so easy for me to lose weight. Since menopause, I feel I have to stand my head... lol thanks for the wishing of luck. Did see a T-Shirt today stating. 'Make your own luck'.
