Today is week #8, I was not home during week #7 and it was completely off track. We had to stay away because my housemate tested positive for covid, so we left to stay in a hotel. It was really hard to eat on plan. I kept up with my water, and I tried to not feel guilty for the meals I had. But it was getting to me. I found myself a little sad, and anxious wondering if I would regain the pounds I lost. I finally decided that this was not the direction I wanted to take with my mental wellness. I mean part of reason I have been able to follow my new plan, is that I released the "diet/perfection" mindset. Life won't always be perfect. I can only try my best. So now I just keep going and don't fall into guilt driven thoughts. What I will say, is all the carbs I did eat, really ended up messing with my gut. I felt shitty and my bowels were practically missing. So, I will definitely continue to eat my low carb meals and add a lot more veggies and plant-based options. I don't just want to look better, I want to feel better.

Starting week #6 and its 4th of July already...man time really runs fast! I was reflecting on my 5th week, and the things I did differently after weighing in from my first month. I noticed that my portions are getting better. I am not being as strict with portion size. Adding the corn tortillas has been wonderful they do have 21g of carbs, so it's not really a low carb best choice. Corn flour isn't low carb. I also found that my body didn't feel as light as it did the first 4 weeks. I was eating more veggies and my bowls were better. So this week I am going to focus on making vegetables my first choice and then adding the protein, and a healthy fat, like avocado. I can plan for including a tortilla (2) when I really want one. I can see how easy it is to fall back on old habits it is for me, I have to build a stronger foundation. I don't ever want to be stuck on the yo-yo diet cycling I have been on since I was 18. My focus is to drop as much weight so my pre-D reverses and I can continue gaining better health. Once I am able to add some "fun" exercises, like hiking with friends, or biking, I know those activities are going to help me maintain my success. I am not going to stand in my own way EVER AGAIN. Thanks to God for the clarity, He blesses me with. Amen

Started week 5 today. I am excited to see what the next 4 weeks will teach me. I really want to keep it simple. No more stressing over a crazy diet. Amen :)

I went to my follow up and weighed in- I lost 13 pounds in my first weeks. I am really proud of myself. I am most proud of showing myself I can do this. And it has been stress-free, drama free and peaceful. Thank you, God, for being my ROCK! To hear my doctor say she is so happy with me, that my BP is better, that my oxygen is better, It's just a great feeling.
She asked if I wanted to continue- I said YES! And now she will allow me to add corn tortillas, legumes (all-not just beans) and she wants me to use Flax seeds to bulk up my fiber. I see her in 4 more weeks. I got this! Amen.

I am now on Week #4 and I am amazed at how well my new plan is working out for me. I have to thank God for giving me peace around food. I am feeling healthier when I walk, and I can feel my clothes fitting looser. I know the water is helping me greatly. I am excited to see the doctor on Friday and weigh in- LOL Haha, like I haven't felt this way since I was a teenager! I really hope these changes helped to reduce my A1C. I know what I am doing is helping my body and improving my health. Amen.
